Recently, MCC Huatian Electrical Company has secured the EPC contract for the "Unmanned Intelligent Warehouse Management and Dispatching System for Steelmaking Raw Material Yard and Wharf" project at Zheishi Group's Dongfang Special Steel. This marks the official launch of China's first comprehensive, plant-wide unmanned raw material transport system in the steel industry. The successful landing of this project represents a significant achievement for MCC Huatian, stemming from its deep cultivation in the field of intelligent steel manufacturing and its drive for industrial upgrading through technological innovation. It showcases the company's profound technical integration capabilities and project execution strength. Leading the resources to build this milestone smart logistics demonstration project sets a new benchmark for the digital transformation and intelligent upgrade of the steel industry.
Traditional raw material logistics in steel enterprises have long faced challenges such as high labor costs, significant safety risks, low dispatching efficiency, and lack of information transparency. To build a world-class intelligent factory, Zheishi Dongfang Special Steel planned to establish a plant-wide comprehensive unmanned raw material transport system, covering various materials including containers, bulk-to-container goods, bulk materials, and general cargo. The project is expected to commence trial operation in 2026, bringing substantial comprehensive benefits: significantly improving overall raw material logistics efficiency, markedly increasing vehicle utilization rates, thereby greatly reducing labor costs, and lowering operational energy consumption through intelligent dispatching; achieving real-time, accurate, and visual inventory data, laying the foundation for refined management; and practicing green logistics concepts to fundamentally enhance operational safety.
To meet the strategic needs of the client, MCC Huatian leveraged its professional expertise in industrial intelligence and system integration to develop a tailored overall solution: the "Plant-wide Smart Logistics System for Steel Raw Material Yard and Wharf Based on 5G+IGV Unmanned Driving." This technological innovation enables a fundamental shift from "mixed flow of personnel and vehicles" to "plant-wide unmanned operation," and from "experience-based dispatching" to "intelligent decision-making." The specific highlights are numerous: The project team established an integrated technical architecture of "Intelligent Equipment + Smart Roadside Infrastructure + Cloud Control Platform." Its self-developed integrated management and control platform, combining Intelligent Dispatching (TMS), Warehouse Management (WMS), and Digital Twin Monitoring, serves as the system's "intelligent core," enabling multi-vehicle dynamic dispatching, real-time precise inventory management, and visual control of the entire process. Facing the complex challenge of deep integration with multiple existing systems at Dongfang Special Steel, such as ERP, MOM, and unmanned weighing systems, the project team took the lead in formulating unified data standards and interface protocols, successfully breaking down information silos and achieving efficient cross-system collaboration. By coordinating ecosystem partners, including Shandong Pengxiang Automotive (providing the IGV vehicle platform) and Siqian Autonomous Driving (providing the unmanned driving system), the team achieved deep technical integration under a unified architecture, ensuring the overall stability, safety, and efficiency of the system.
This project focuses on tackling several key industry technical challenges, with expected outstanding outcomes: It will achieve, for the first time in China's steel industry, a fully unmanned closed-loop operation covering the entire process from wharf to raw material yard to steelmaking in a complex, open environment. It innovatively applies multi-source fusion positioning technology to achieve seamless, high-precision navigation both indoors and outdoors. Through intelligent dynamic scheduling algorithms, it enables precise coordination between multiple types of IGV vehicles and large-scale equipment, significantly improving operational efficiency and safety. The project not only represents a breakthrough in technology integration but also forms a standardized, modularized, and rapidly replicable smart logistics solution, laying a solid foundation for widespread promotion to similar scenarios in the domestic steel industry, with broad market prospects.
In the future, MCC Huatian will take this project as a new starting point, consistently upholding a spirit of craftsmanship, continuously strengthening its professional capabilities in core areas such as industrial smart logistics, and persistently developing benchmark solutions that lead the industry. The company is committed to contributing to the high-quality, intelligent, and green development of the steel industry and providing greater empowerment for the transformation and upgrading of the manufacturing sector.
