Technical Standard for Chimney Engineering co-edited by a group of experts led of MCC Huatian published on 20 May. The standard will take effect on 1 October 2021.

The standard was revised from Design Standard for Chimney GB50051-2013 and GB50078-2008 Construction and Acceptance Standard for Chimney and was a combination of the two. In the past 4 years, dozens of studies, experiments and theoretical researches were conducted widespread investigations and analysis was carried out, practices in design and construction of chimneys were summarized, coordination work was made with related standards, comparison with and reference to well-developed standards across the world were made for the purposes of standard revision.

The new standard solves the problems of unsynchronized revision between previous design standard for chimney and construction standards for chimney, and can satisfy the needs of the users and supervision authorities. In addition, the implementation of the newly added and revised content in the standard also facilitates engineering design of chimneys, in particular anti-corrosion design of chimneys, which will reduce to a great extent damages and maintenance cost of chimneys and bring about considerable social and economical benefits.
